Toronto Maple Leafs Game 3 Round 2

Maple Leafs Break Through Against Bruins in Game 2, Matthews Scores Decisive Goal

Maple Leafs Win 3-2, Tie Series at 1-1

Third-Period Tally Gives Toronto Momentum

Toronto Maple Leafs center Auston Matthews scored a breakaway goal in the third period to snap a 2-2 tie and give the Maple Leafs a 3-2 win over the Boston Bruins in Game 2 of their first-round playoff series. The win ties the series at 1-1.

Matthews' goal came at 12:06 of the third period, just over seven minutes after Brad Marchand had given the Bruins a 2-1 lead. The goal was Matthews' second of the game and his third of the playoffs.

The Maple Leafs controlled the play for much of the game, outshooting the Bruins 34-20. However, they were unable to take the lead until Matthews' goal. Frederik Andersen made 18 saves for the win.

The Bruins will host the Maple Leafs in Game 3 on Thursday night. The Bruins lead the series 2-1.
